About Us

PayrollOrg (PAYO) is a professional organization dedicated to empowering payroll professionals by offering top-tier education, publications, resources, and networking opportunities. PAYO aims to cultivate successful leaders and strategic partners within organizations, enhancing the expertise and effectiveness of payroll professionals worldwide. After over four decades of leadership in payroll education, publications, and training, the American Payroll Association and the Global Payroll Management Institute merged to form PayrollOrg. The transformation, effective from May 2, 2023, was driven by a commitment to better serve the global community of payroll leaders. PAYO stands as the foremost authority in payroll education, publications, and networking, annually engaging over 100,000 participants from 100+ countries in its training programs. With a focus on knowledge building, recognition promotion, community fostering, advocacy, and public education, PAYO empowers payroll professionals worldwide to excel in their roles, stay compliant, and contribute as strategic partners within organizations.

The Hampton Roads Chapter of PayrollOrg (HRPAYO) serves the Hampton Roads area in Virginia that includes the following cities: Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach.

The Hampton Roads Chapter of the American Payroll Association (HRAPA) was established in 2001. In 2024, the HRAPA became the Hampton Roads Chapter of PayrollOrg (HRPAYO) to align with the name change of our associated national community to PayrollOrg.  The Hampton Roads Chapter of PayrollOrg currently has 63 active members. Meetings are held bi-monthly on the second Thursday, from 8:00 to 11:00 am. Meeting topics are established and provided in advance to all members on a regular basis through www.hrapa.com. Membership is available on an individual and corporate basis and the cost is $65.00 for individuals and $135.00 for corporate (up to 3 employees) plus $45.00 for each additional employee. We now also offer a day membership, established specifically for virtual meetings for $25.00 per person.

We join a network of over 100 chapters that are dedicated to supporting the initiatives of PayrollOrg, which center on payroll education and the recognition of payroll as a profession.

The Hampton Roads Chapter of PayrollOrg serves to: 

• Increase the skill level of the Payroll Professional through education.

• Promote and enhance the image of the payroll profession throughout the state of Virginia. 

• Provide Payroll Professionals with networking opportunities and provide a forum for effective exchange of payroll knowledge, trends, and ideas. 

• Promote the highest standards of professional practice and payroll ethics.

Benefits of Membership

• Bi-monthly meetings to network with other payroll professionals and keep abreast of timely topics, while earning 2 RCH credits for your FPC or CPP recertification.

• Free Breakfast registration certificate awarded as a door prize at each meeting. 

• Study groups to prepare intermediate to advanced level Payroll Professionals an opportunity to advance their career by helping those students interested in taking the FPC or CPP certification exam. The study groups also provide a way to earn RCH credits for students for FPC/CPP recertification. 

• Community Service projects give members an opportunity to give back to the community.
